CSS 3 offers front-end designers and developers more control than ever before of their front-end designs. Get practical examples of some of the latest CSS 3 techniques (and a few often-forgotten CSS 2.1 ones) from local web design experts Emily Lewis and Jason Nakai, including:

  • Image-free gradients and text shadows
  • Pseudo classes
  • Attribute selectors
  • Transitions and transforms
  • Media queries
  • And more!

You'll learn not only how to implement these techniques, but also tools to help you get the job done.

About Our Presenter

Emily Lewis
Emily Lewis

Emily is a freelance web designer of the standardista variety, which means she gets excited about things like valid POSH, microformats and accessibility. As part of her ongoing quest to spread good word about standards, she writes about web design on her blog, A Blog Not Limited, and is a contributing writer for Web Standards SherpaScript Junkie.net magazine and MIX Online. She's also the author of Microformats Made Simple and a contributing author for HTML5 Cookbook.

Emily is also passionate about community building and knowledge sharing, which is why she co-founded and co-manages Webuquerque, and is the co-host of EE Podcast. She also instructs and speaks at conferences all over the country, including SXSW, MIX, InControl and Voices that Matter.

Jason Nakai
Jason Nakai

Jason is a Software Developer for Data-Basis. He began his career working with the US Army as a Multimedia Illustrator, where he developed interactive media and educational software.

In the ten years since then, he has worn many different designer/developer hats, but his main interest lies in educating through technology and the use of rich media. He's also a firm believer in knowledge sharing, which is why he's been an active member of the New Mexico Adobe User Groups for many years and currently co-manages Webuquerque.

Webuquerque

Webuquerque is a division of the New Mexico Adobe User Group (NMAUG) that is geared entirely toward web professionals and folks interested in learning more about the web.

While we are an Adobe User Group, our primary agenda is not an Adobe agenda. Our mission is to provide a forum for local web professionals to:

  • Exchange ideas and information
  • Further professional skills
  • Advance web standards and best practices
  • Give back to the community

To that aim, we host free, monthly events that begin with a presentation on a web topic, followed by socializing and networking. The goal is to combine education and social.

We meet the first Wednesday of every month at One Up Elevated Lounge in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
